Unfortunately Jeev will not be making an appearance on the 1st tee on Thursday as his intercostal muscle injury has started to give him pain once more. He had given himself 70% fitness on Monday but things have deteriorated over the past couple of days.
"When I went out yesterday to play 18 holes, it was hurting," said Jeev. "When I was taking deep breaths, it was also hurting and when that happens you know it's back. My game is good but I just don't want to take any chances this week." he added "I don't want to play in a tournament for the sake of playing in it but I want to be competing and be in contention. I want to be fit and I've always believed in that."
Jeev will now take two weeks off and his next tournament is the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational beginning on 6th August at Firestone CC, in Akron, Ohio.
Australian John Senden is the latest player to win a place in the Open Championship field following the withdrawal of Jeev Milka Singh.
The Indian had rated himself only 70 per cent fit on Monday and has duly pulled out after failing to recover from a lingering rib muscle injury.
